All cleaned up, ready for the next glaze kiln and your visit! I was on vacation last week but Susan, Cheyanne and Carolyn were busy in the studio. I must also thank my friend Dirk for coming out and taking care of the ceiling in the middle showroom. We had installed some fiberglass material on the ceiling hoping it would help with on occasional mildew problems. Unfortunately the adhesive failed and the fiberglass sheets had to be removed with the ceiling sanded and repainted. Soooo, it has been dusty mess but on the up side it gave me a reason to deep clean, clean all the shelves and give the floor a much needed repainting. We finished cleaning and re-stocking shelves Monday afternoon.
Tuesday brings on glazing!!!!!! I also repaired the electric kiln so we do not have to wait to load the gas kiln with bisque which helps with production of smaller items, IE mugs and Jester Jars. I hope to burn a glaze kiln no later than Thursday the 19th.
Right before Christmas we experienced a water line rupture under the studio which in turn flooded the lower studio floor where I was drying dinner plates and some of Susan's grand new platters. Not a total dissolve but a large portion of the work was not salvageable. Could have been worse.
We are also going to be working on some new outdoor work, flower pots, sun faces, wall pockets, bird houses and bird feeders.
I would like to thank all our friends and customers who have collected my work over the years. Always a pleasure to have you visit the shop!!! I would also like to thank my friends/employee's for all they do to enhance the shop experience, be it creating works or packing, shipping, decorating or answering visitors questions. Carolyn, Carol, Susan, Cheyanne & Joanne. Also many thanks to those who helped out with the shows this year, Pam, Sallie, Kaytee, Mellie & Brianna. I must also thank John Rezner for finishing up the new kiln and constructing some new shelving units from old shutters and a pair of old french doors I have had in storage for years. As most of you know there is a story behind everything in the shop. Lastly I want to thank my web master Emery Wooten for keeping the web site and e-mails going. Always on top of the task! I am looking forward to a splendid 2017!
